Health Services Supervisory Management (Level 6)

Course Description

A broad ranging programme with an emphasis on a range of supervisory management and leadership skills, this qualifies participants to demonstrate knowledge of administrative and organisational skills and techniques within a range of health service and leisure settings.

At the end of this programme successful participants will have:

  • acquired the theoretical knowledge enabling them to understand the role and responsibilities of a supervisor.
  • acquired a range of supervisory and management skills.
  • developed good interpersonal communication skills.
  • demonstrated the confidence to eal with a variety of challenging situation.
  • developed good work practices appropriate to  their role as supervisor/line manager.

Entry Requirements

Ideally applicants will hold a relevant QQI Level 5 or equivalent in any of the following: Nursing Studies, Community and Health Services, Community Care, However, those with other appropriate level 5 qualifications and applicants with relevant workplace experience will also be considered and called for an information interview.  

Work Experience

Work experience forms an integral part of this KCFE programme.  Students participate in quality placements allowing a valuable opportunity to gain hands on experience in industry.  L inks made with employers during work experience often result in employment.

Career Opportunities

Successful participants find employment as healthcare supervisors and mangers in residential and non-residential health and social care settings. Graduates also work in hospitals, nursing homes, training centres and in the community.

Progression to Further Education and Higher Education 
Participants may progress to study on certain degree level programmes in the Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland.

Course Fees

All students are required to pay the €10 application fee and €150 registration fee. Both of these fees are non-refundable. Students are also required to pay the €200 Government Levy (exemptions with valid medical card or evidence that you qualify for Maintenance Grant/Back to Education Allowance). Additional course specific fees will apply. Details of course specific fees are available on request from college office or when you apply online.
