Building Construction (Pre-Apprenticeship)

Course Description

The course provides for students who wish to develop pre-apprenticeship skills, pursue employment or advance to further education. It aims to familiarise students with the work environment of the building industry and to prepare them for the whole world of work. The Safe Pass legal requirement for the building industry will form an optional part of the course. The course is linked to third level institutes for students who wish to pursue higher education

QQI - Quality and Qualifications Ireland

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, LCVP, LCA or a Level 4.  Mature students are very welcome.  Access to this programme will be decided by interview. 

Work Experience

Work Experience is a core element of this programme providing an opportunity to put skills developed on the programme into use in a real working environment.  It allows students to create links with employers. 

Career Opportunities

Graduates may progress to the Level 6 Furniture Making and Restoration programme at KCFE.

The course is linked to third level institutes for students who wish to pursue higher education e.g. GMIT Letterfrack Furniture College or IT Tralee Advanced Woodwork and Sustainable Technology Degree.

  • QQI Level 5 award in Construction Technology - 5M5010
