Course Description

The course aims to prepare students for entry to Arts Degrees in third level colleges.  It also provides a broad base of modules which aims to ensure that graduates can work in a European context.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, LCVP, LCA or a Level 4.  Mature students are very welcome.  Access to this programme will be decided by interview. 

Work Experience

Work Experience is a core element of this programme providing an opportunity to put skills developed on the programme into use in a real working environment.  It allows students to create links with employers. 

Career Opportunities

Employment opportunities may arise in public and private sector organisations both at home and abroad in:

  • Translation or Interpreting
  • Entry roles in EU Institutions or International Agencies.
  • Export-oriented organisations.
  • Call Centre Multi-lingual Support.


Graduates may use the course as an alternative access route into third level courses such as some Arts Degrees or European Studies.  For full list click on the student resources section of the CAO website.  Examples of progression include:

€150 Registration fees. Details of all other fees including examination fees, materials charges etc are available on request from the college office.
