Course Description

The ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business is part of the ACCA Foundations in Accountancy suite and is suitable for students who wish to obtain a one year qualification in business, with a specific emphasis on accounting.   The course is accredited by ACCA; which is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy body in the world with over 500,000 members and students in 173 countries.   An ACCA qualification is sought after by many potential employers.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, LCVP, LCA or a Level 4.  Mature students are very welcome.  Access to this programme will be decided by interview. 

Work Experience

Work Experience in a business/organisation related to this area of study is a fundamental part of this course and enables students to apply what they are learning in practice as well as build links with potential future employers.

Career Opportunities

On completion of this Diploma, graduates can transfer to the ACCA Professional Qualification, where they will be exempt from a number of exams.  The Professional Qualification trains graduates to become fully qualified ACCA accountants.

Alternatively, Institutes of Technology and other colleges offer opportunities for further studies. Check with the admissions office of any institution you are interested in attending as exemptions are available for subjects on these courses.

Employment prospects from this course are many and varied.  Every organisation/business requires Finance personnel.  Graduates can expect to secure employment in accountancy practices, finance and payroll departments of both public and private sector organisations.    Examples of organisations include Government Departments, County Councils, Banks and other Financial Institutions, Manufacturing and Service Organisations.

Registration fee is €150. Government Levy €200 - exemptions with valid medical card or evidence that you qualify for Maintenance Grant/Back to Education Allowance. Details of any other fees available on request from college office.
