The ACCA Certificate in Accounting and Finance is part of the ACCA Foundations in Accountancy suite and is suitable for students who wish to obtain a one year qualification in business with a specific emphasis on accounting.   The course is accredited by ACCA; which is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy body in the world with over 500,000 members and students in 173 countries.   An ACCA qualification is sought after by many potential employers.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or equivalent.  Mature applicants welcome.  Interviews will help decide suitability.  Note: no requirement to complete ACCA Introductory or Intermediate Certificates prior to the Diploma in Accounting.  Students are recommended to begin at the introductory level in the absence of prior experience/study.

Work Experience

Work experience forms and integral part of this KCFE programme.  Students participate in quality placements allowing a valuable opportunity to gain hands on experience in industry.  Links made with employers during work experience often result in employment.

Career Opportunities

Graduates who successfully complete this course can progress to the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (one year course also available at KCFE). 

On completion of the Diploma, students can then transfer to the ACCA Professional Qualification, where they will be exempt from a number of exams.  The Professional Qualification trains graduates to become fully qualified ACCA accountants

Alternatively, Institutes of Technology and other colleges offer opportunities for further studies. Check with the admissions office of any institution you are interested in attending as exemptions may be available for subjects on these courses.

Employment prospects from this course are many and varied.  Every organisation/business requires Finance personnel.  Graduates can expect to secure employment in accountancy practices, finance and payroll departments of both public and private sector organisations.    Examples of organisations include Government Departments, County Councils, Banks and other Financial Institutions, Manufacturing and Service Organisations.
